Step
2 - Upload Content
Upload the existing content affiliated with the domain name
you are moving from the current hosting provider to the VPS
that will be hosting the domain name.
Step
3 - Modify Domain Registration
Only after you are sure that the new domain name and content
are working correctly, you should submit a domain name modification
request to the appropriate domain name registrar. Modify the
domain name registration information with the registrar by
sending them a modification request. You must modify the Primary
and Secondary Name Server information so that the domain is
resolved by our Primary and Secondary Name Servers.

concerning the modification of the domain name registration.
Step
4 - Wait
You must continue to have both your existing site and your
new hosting active for at least as long as the TTL (Time To
Live) for the domain name. The TTL is the amount of time that
any name server on the Internet is allowed to cache the data
(such as the IP address) associated with a domain name. After
the TTL expires, a name server discards cached data and contacts
the authoritative name server (the Primary or Secondary Name
Server for your domain name) to retrieve updated data. In
short, don't cancel the account with the previous hosting
provider until after the domain's TTL has elapsed. Usually
48 to 72 hours after you submit your request to transfer.
